Honoring 35 Years
of Service Excellence

When a group of doctors, dentists and business executives joined forces in 1974 to build a new hospital, they had two missions: to give patients a choice and doctors a voice. That's why I was honored to become CEO in 2006 and why I am so excited to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Doctors Hospital of Laredo.

In this issue of Health News you'll hear from some of the physicians and employees who have worked with Doctors Hospital from its early days, when it was a 68-bed facility located in north Laredo on East Mann Road. With their commitment and our community's support, the hospital survived, expanded and flourished.

Our challenge today is to build on our history and keep pace with our growing community. Here are just a few of the projects we have planned:

• Expanding our cardiac services and radiology department
• Recruiting new physicians and nurses
• Adding benefits and activities to our Senior Salud program, already 1,000 members strong, and creating Kids Salud and Med Salud programs to reach out to children and adults of all ages

For 35 years of service excellence we have treated patients as if they were family members, treated all employees with respect and practiced teamwork. We're proud to honor this tradition and look forward to doing so for many more years.
